The RS freshman has had surgery on his right leg for the condition. Compartment syndrome is an affliction in which increased pressure within a confined space impairs blood supply and could lead to nerve damage if not treated properly. He started the first three games but has given way to true freshman Anthony ''Humpty'' Hitchens in the starting lineup for the past three game. Steward is averaging 3.3 points. Steward missed all of last season with a hip flexor. Coach Dambrot said he expects Steward back for the MAC season, which opens Jan. 10 at Miami. |

The school made an emergency appeal to the NCAA and 23 were granted waivers. Chia-Kur was the only athlete not granted a waiver. The starting point guard is averaging 8 points and 5.7 assists per game, the latter mark being good for second in the ACC.
