|
Next game: North Texas at Alabama on 09/19
|
| 09/12 | 6:58am | Mark Ingram | RB | Probable | Flu | Sophomore RB Mark Ingram returned to practice on Sept 10, and head coach Nick Saban expects him to play against Florida International on Sept 12. Saban also says that true freshman Trent Richardson will see "a lot" of playing time, so expect to see Ingram received a limited number of carries against Florida International on Sept 12. Against Virginia Tech, Ingram led the Crimson Tide in rushing with 150 yards on 26 carries (5.8 ypc). |
| 09/10 | 10:27pm | Chris Jordan | LB | Questionable | Flu | Sophomore LB Chris Jordan is the latest Crimson Tide flu victim. After missing practice on Sept 10, the reserve MLB's status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is unknown. Jordan recorded three tackles as a true freshman in 2008. |
| 09/10 | 10:24pm | Brandon Deaderick | DE | Questionable | Personal | Senior DE Brandon Deaderick is questionable for the Sept 12 game against Florida International while tending to personal matters (death in the family). Deaderick has missed practice since Monday (Sept 7), but head coach Nick Saban insists that the starting DE's absence is excused. Saban says that he expects to see Deaderick back with the team on Sept 11. Despite getting shot in the forearm the week of the Virginia Tech game, Deaderick saw limited action on Sept 5 against the Hokies. If he does not play Sept 12, his likely replacement would be junior Luther Davis. |
| 09/10 | 8:47am | Dre Kirkpatrick | CB | Probable | Pulled muscle | True freshman CB Dre Kirkpatrick did not play against Virginia Tech on Sept 5, but he is available for the Sept 12 against Florida International. The highly sought-after CB is expected to receive lots of playing time despite being in a crowded defensive backfield if healthy (No.2 LCB). According to head coach Nick Saban, Kirkpatrick has to "earn it [playing time]", as he is not currently listed in the top 5 or 6 DBs in the rotation. |
| 09/10 | 7:57am | Star Jackson | QB | Probable | Flu | Redshirt freshman QB Star Jackson is recovering from the flu after being quarantined from his teammates (except roommate Mark Ingram, who also has the virus) for three days. His status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is probable. |
| 09/06 | 11:29am | Jerrell Harris | LB | Doubtful | Eligibility | Sophomore SLB Jerrell Harris did not play Sept 5 game against Virginia Tech due to a pending NCAA decision on his eligibility. His status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is unknown. Harris received a laptop from Auburn booster Curtis Anderson, the same man who paid for a fishing trip for fellow Alabama sophomores Mark Ingram and Julio Jones. Harris, a reserve SLB (No. 2 on the depth chart), played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2008. |
| 09/06 | 11:24am | Kenny Bell | WR | Questionable | Shin | True freshman WR Kenny Bell did not play in the season opener against Virginia Tech. His status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is unknown |
| 08/26 | 6:09am | Petey Smith | LB | Out For Year | Grayshirt | True freshman LB Petey Smith will delay his arrival to Alabama until January 2010. The reserve MLB was listed as the No.3 MLB on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 6:08am | Alonzo Lawrence | S | Out For Year | Dismissed | Redshirt freshman Alonzo Lawrence was dismissed from the team during the summer session. Lawrence was listed as the No. 3 SS on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 6:03am | Charlie Kirschman | LB | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Junior WLB Charlie Kirschman is being placed on medical scholarship. The reserve WLB is listed as the No.4 WLB on the depth chart. |
| 08/26 | 5:54am | Jennings Hester | LB | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Sophomore reserve MLB Jennings Hester will receive a medical scholarship. The No.4 MLB's absence leaves Alabama with no depth at the MLB position. |
| 08/26 | 5:52am | Evan Cardwell | C | Out For Year | Medical scholarship | Reserve center Evan Cardwell was placed on medical scholarship. The senior was slated as the No.3 center on the depth chart. Cardwell made seven starts during his Crimson Tide career. |
| 08/26 | 5:44am | Charlie Higgenbotham | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Junior MLB Charlie Higgenbotham will transfer to South Alabama. The reserve MLB (No.2 on depth chart) recorded four tackles in 2008. Higgenbotham's departure leaves the Crimson Tide without much depth at the MLB position. |
| 08/26 | 5:41am | Chris Jackson | WR | Out For Year | Transfer | Sophomore WR Chris Jackson will transfer to Georgia Tech. The reserve WR moved from DB, where he made six tackles as a true freshman in 2008. As a wide receiver, Jackson was slated to be third-string behind Marquis Maze and Brandon Gibson. |
| 08/17 | 4:37pm | Brandon Fanney | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Fanney has been granted permission to transfer from UA. The 2008 starter was third on the team with 66 tackles - nine for a loss. With Fanney's departure look for senior Eryk Anders to take over the starting job. |
| 08/07 | 6:48pm | Prince Hall | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Hall will play his senior season at Central Washington. The often-troubled linebacker has been suspended a number of times during his time at Alabama and decided it was time leave the program. |
|
Next game: Ball State at Army on 09/19
|
| 09/12 | 8:25pm | Trent Steelman | QB | Probable | Ribs | Starting QB Steelman, the first freshman to start at Army in over 50 years, was limited on Saturday Sept. 12 against Duke due to an injury to his ribs. Consider him probable to play heading into week three, but his role is clearly TBD. Junior QB Chip Bowden, the starter in 2008, had been taking the bulk of the first team reps in practice, but it was Carson Williams who saw the game day snaps when Steelman was out. |
| 09/11 | 8:05am | Fritz Bentler | OL | Questionable | Foot | Bentler is nearing a return from a foot injury but he remains a question mark for the Black Knights home opener against Duke on Saturday Sept. 12. Bentler provides depth at left tackle when healthy. |
|
Next game: Ball State at Army on 09/19
|
| 09/08 | 1:52am | Madaris Grant | TE | Out For Year | Knee | Grant tore his ACL in the first quarter of the season opener and will undergo surgery in a couple of weeks. The senior and team captain will petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility. After Thursday's loss, HC Parrish said Grant was the one player he couldn't afford to lose. Grant's replacement has not been determined. Sophomore Ryan Hartke, who had never played the position before, filled in Thursday night but was called for a holding penalty that nullified a Ball State touchdown. Freshman Zane Fakes, a converted running back, will compete with Hartke for the starting job. |
| 08/13 | 2:07am | Derrick Henry | S | Out For Year | Academics | Junior Derrick Henry was expected to provide depth in the Cardinals' secondary but is not with the team because of what coach Stan Parrish termed "academic issues" encountered during the spring semester. Henry finished 2008 with 42 tackles, but he had only 12 in the final seven games. While unable to play regularly on defense, he was regarded as a key performer on special teams. |
|
Next game: Connecticut at Baylor on 09/19
|
| 09/07 | 12:03pm | Byron Landor | SS | Questionable | Knee | Top reserve safety Landor has missed the first two games with a sprained knee. Consider him questionable for Sept. 19 against UConn. With the junior out, the Bears are extremely thin behind starting safeties Jordan Lake and Jeremy Williams. |
|
Next game: Boston College at Clemson on 09/19
|
| 09/12 | 8:31am | James McCluskey | FB | Doubtful | Achilles | Junior FB James McCluskey battled an Achilles injury for most of fall preseason camp and missed the season opener against Northeastern. He is likely out for the Sept 12 game against Kent State. In 2008, McCluskey rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries and one touchdown and also caught 19 passes for 123 yards. Senior DT Brendan Deska could see action at FB during McCluskey's absence. |
| 09/11 | 11:19am | Will Thompson | LB | Out | Shoulder | Sophomore LB Will Thompson missed the Sept 5 opener against Northeastern with a shoulder injury and will miss the Sept 12 game against Kent State. Thompson is listed as the No. 1 WLB on the depth chart. In Thompson's absence, true freshman Luke Kuechly will see significant playing time. |
| 09/11 | 11:18am | Kaleb Ramsey | DT | Probable | Ankle | Sophomore DT Kaleb Ramsey returned to full practice on Sept 9 after missing the Northeastern game (Sept 5). His status for the Sept 12 game against Kent State is probable. Ramsey is a projected starter at DT and was expected to ease the losses of B.J. Raji and Ron Brace to the NFL. In 2008, Ramsey played a reserve role as a true freshman and recorded six tackles. |
| 09/11 | 11:16am | Rich Lapham | T | Probable | Multiple | Junior RT Rich Lapham did not play against Northeastern due to shoulder and neck ailments. His status for the Sept 12 game against Kent State is probable. Lapham is the No. 1 RT on the depth chart for the Eagles. In 2008, Lapham started all 14 games and helped pave the way for then freshman RB Montel Harris to break two Boston College freshman rushing records (total yards and number of 100-yard rushing games). |
| 09/09 | 9:26am | Clarence Megwa | WR | Probable | Finger | Senior WR Clarence Megwa injured his finger during the Northeastern game on Sept 5, but the senior starter is expected to return to practice on Sept 9. Megwa is expected to play Sept 12 against Kent State. |
| 09/05 | 7:33am | Ifeanyi Momah | WR | Out | Knee | Junior WR Ifeanyi Momah missed the Sept 5 game against Northeastern with a sprained right medial collateral ligament injury. The reserve receiver caught 11 passes in 2008 for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns (second on the team last season). |
| 09/05 | 7:16am | Mike McLaughlin | LB | Out | Achilles | Senior LB Mike McLaughlin missed the Sept 5 game against Northeastern with an Achilles ailment. He will likely miss the Sept 12 game against Kent State. McLaughlin is expected to provide stability to a linebacker crew that lost its leader, Mark Herzlich, to cancer for the entire 2009 season. In 2008, McLaughlin started all 14 games for Boston College and was second on the team in tackles with 89 (53 solo) and four sacks. |
| 08/10 | 5:33pm | Mark Herzlich | LB | Out For Year | Cancer | Herzlich has been diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in his left leg. The ACC Defensive Player of the year is two months into an aggressive chemotherapy plan and will not play in 2009. The cancer gives him a five-percent higher chance of breaking his leg. "If it breaks, the cancer spreads," he said. |
| 08/10 | 5:23pm | Dominique Davis | QB | Out For Year | Academics | Projected starting quarterback Dominique Davis was declared academically ineligible and will transfer out of the BC program. The QB position in BC is a bit chaotic. There are six QB's on the roster, NONE of which have taken an in-game snap from under center in their careers. Billy Flutie has played college ball - at wide receiver, punter and holder - but he will only get a handful of chances for "change-of-pace" snaps. Codi Boek played in every game last year, including four starts - at FullBack. The other four candidates are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. |
|
Next game: FCS (1-AA) Opponent at Central Michigan on 09/19
|
| 08/13 | 1:22am | Taylor Bradley | CB | Out For Year | Academics | Junior Taylor Bradley will not be with the 2009 football team because of academic ineligibility. One of two seniors, Tommy Mama or Kirkston Edwards, is the likely candidate to take over the CB spot for the projected starter. |
| 08/13 | 1:17am | Josh Allison | DT | Out For Year | Unknown | Sophomore Josh Allison's career is apparently over due to an unspecified injury. The Chippewas return senior Frank Zombo, an All-MAC selection, junior Sean Murnane, senior Sam Williams and senior Larry Knight along the defensive line. Past that, HC Butch Jones said the key will be to develop depth and have younger players step up and contribute. "Our defensive line, we're probably going to (need) one or two freshman to be able to step up and give us some reps there," he said. |
|
Next game: Cincinnati at Oregon State on 09/19
|
| 08/11 | 1:57am | Vidal Hazelton | WR | Out For Year | Eligibility | Projected starter and USC transfer Vidal Hazelton will not play in 2009 after the NCAA denied his request to become immediately eligible. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver caught 50 passes for 540 yards with the Trojans in 2007. Bothered by a high ankle sprain last season, he had only six receptions. Hazelton's addition could have given Cincinnati the deepest receiving corps in the Big East. The Bearcats still return Mardy Gilyard, a first-team All-Big East performer last year, and improving sophomore D.J. Woods. |
|
Next game: Nevada at Colorado State on 09/19
|
| 09/08 | 1:42am | Shelley Smith | OL | Questionable | Ankle | Smith sat out the season opener and the preseason All-MWC lineman is dealing with a sprained ankle. Smith, who is yet to shed a protective boot, is a question mark for the week two contest with Weber St. Jake Gdowski has been taking first team reps with Smith on the shelf. |
| 09/03 | 2:38pm | Klay Kubiak | QB | Out | Shoulder | Sophomore Klay Kubiak had offseason shoulder surgery, missed spring practice altogether, and has not been able to participate much this fall. He earned the backup role in 2008 and was expected to push for the starting job this year. |
|
Next game: Tennessee at Florida on 09/19
|
| 09/12 | 7:09am | Jelani Jenkins | LB | Questionable | Ankle | True freshman LB Jelani Jenkins re-aggravated the ankle he injured during preseason camp and has been held out of full contact drills as recently as Sept 10. Head coach Urban Meyer has downgraded Jenkins to questionable for the game against Troy on Sept 12. |
| 09/12 | 7:08am | Brendan Beal | LB | Doubtful | Sore neck | Redshirt freshman LB Brendan Beal is suffering from a sore neck that forces him to receive limited reps at practice. According to head coach Urban Meyer, Beal had separated himself from the rest of the reserve linebackers and had established himself as the No. 2 MLB behind All-American Brandon Spikes. Beal's injury further depletes the Gators' reserve linebacker corps. Beal did not play against Charleston Southern on Sept 5, and his availability for the Sept 12 game against Troy is doubtful at best. According to the coaching staff, Beal is "likely to miss the next few weeks". |
| 09/12 | 7:07am | Lawrence Marsh | DT | Questionable | Ankle | Junior NT Lawrence Marsh did not play against Charleston Southern due to a slow-healing ankle injury. He was held out of full drills on Sept 10 and has been downgraded to questionable for the Sept 12 game against Troy. If Marsh cannot go, sophomore Omar Hunter is likely to continue to start. |
| 09/12 | 7:04am | Dustin Doe | LB | Probable | Suspension | Senior LB Dustin Doe served a one-game suspension for driving without a valid license. He is still "day-to-day" in the eyes of the Gators coaching staff, and his status for the Sept 12 game against Troy is probable. "As of now, Doe will play, or at least, he's available," says head coach Urban Meyer of the reserve LB. |
| 09/09 | 9:06am | Andre Debose | WR | Out For Year | Hamstring | Highly touted freshman WR Andre Debose is out for the season after undergoing surgery to reattach a torn tendon. The Florida Gators coaching staff believes that Debose initially injured the hamstring during the track season of his senior year in high school. Meyer had hoped that Debose could play a "Percy Harvin" role in 2009 despite being a true freshman. |
| 09/08 | 9:24am | Carl Johnson | T | Probable | Knee | Junior LT Carl Johnson sustained a bone bruise on his knee during the Charleston Southern game. Head coach Urban Meyer does not believe the injury is serious and expects Johnson to resume full participation in practice on Sept 8. Johnson's status for the Sept 12 game against Troy is probable. |
| 09/05 | 9:04am | Carl Moore | WR | Out | Back | Senior WR Carl Moore has missed practice since having an undisclosed procedure done on his back on Aug 18. Head coach Urban Meyer says this about Moore's injury: "I was worried about that one. I'd give you the term, but I don't know what it is--something about the nerves in his back. It's still going to be a little while until he's ready." Moore will miss the Sept 5 game against Charleston Southern and It is believed that his injury could be season-ending. The reserve WR gained 185 receiving yards as a junior in 2008. |
| 08/25 | 8:25am | Paul Wilson | WR | Out For Year | Foot | Sophomore wide receiver Paul Wilson's football career came to an end August 7 when he suffered a second broken foot in less than a year. | 08/25 | 8:10am | Dorian Munroe | S | Out | Knee | Senior safety Dorian Munroe tore his meniscus in practice last week and underwent surgery recently. He is expected to miss at least five games and would be available for the October 10 game vs. LSU at the earliest. Munroe was projected to start in 2008 before tearing his ACL. This season, he was in a battle for a starting safety position with Major Wright before injuring the same knee. |
| 08/07 | 6:55pm | John Jones | LB | Out For Year | Transfer | Seeking more playing time Jones has decided to transfer. The third team linebacker dressed for 13 games last season and saw action in all but two of those games as a member of the kickoff unit and as a reserve linebacker. |
|
Next game: Florida International at Rutgers on 09/19
|
| 09/05 | 9:19am | Franklin Brown | LB | Probable | Groin | Sophomore LB Franklin Brown returned to practice on Aug 27 and is listed as probable for the Sept 12 game against Alabama. He had 17 tackles last year as a true freshman. |
|
Next game: Georgia at Arkansas on 09/19
|
| 09/10 | 10:43pm | Joe Cox | QB | Probable | Arm | Senior QB Joe Cox will play against South Carolina despite battling a sore shoulder. HC Richt refuted the internet rumors that sophomore Logan Gray (No. 2 QB) will start by unequivocally naming Cox the starter during a Sept 10 press conference. "What we have been doing with Joe is giving him ... off Wednesday as far as throwing the ball. And then Thursday -today - he will work. But the guy has been here five years. He is getting old. Nah, we want to make sure his arm is as fresh as it could be. And that is why we do it. ... We want Joe to have as much pop as he can have." |
| 09/10 | 10:18pm | Darius Dewberry | LB | Out | Groin | Senior LB Darius Dewberry is expected to miss the Sept 12 game against South Carolina. Dewberry is listed as the No. 1 SLB on the Bulldogs' depth chart. If he is unable to go, junior Akeem Dent will start in his place. |

Tripp suffered a shoulder "stinger" during preseason practice according to head coach Mark Richt, who also said that Tripp "might play" against South Carolina. The reserve DE is in the process of converting to defense after being an offensive player his first two seasons. |
| 09/10 | 10:14pm | Caleb King | RB | Doubtful | Hamstring | According to head coach Mark Richt, sophomore RB Caleb King "probably won't play" against South Carolina on Sept 12. King ranked second on the team last year behind Knowshon Moreno in rushing yards. Sophomore Richard Samuel will see work as the #1 tailback in King's absence. |
| 09/09 | 8:36am | Makiri Pugh | S | Probable | Illness | RS freshman FS Makiri Pugh was quarantined from his teammates for five days before returning to practice on Sept 8. Pugh expects to be able to play on Sept 12 against South Carolina. Says Pugh of his experience, "I was just more devastated I could not play [in the opener]," he said. "I knew I would recover pretty quickly because most people do from it. I was just disappointed I wouldn't get to travel with the team [to Oklahoma State] and would not get to play what would have been my first game." |
| 09/08 | 9:44am | Quintin Banks | S | Probable | Knee | Junior strong safety Quintin Banks sustained a knee injury during preseason camp and did not play against Oklahoma State. | 09/07 | 8:30am | Trinton Sturdivant | T | Out For Year | Knee | Mark Richt announced on Sept 6 that redshirt sophomore Trinton Sturdivant would miss the entire 2009 season with a torn ACL in his left knee. The starting LT tore three ligaments (including the ACL) in the same knee in 2008. Richt expects Sturdivant to recover fully in time for the 2010 season. It is believed that starting RT Clint Boling (seven starts at LT in 2008) could move over to LT to replace Sturdivant. |
| 09/05 | 9:23am | Chris Davis | G | Probable | Ankle | Junior RG Chris Davis missed the Aug 28 practice with a sprained ankle. The starting RG had been filling in for starting C Ben Jones while Jones recovered from an ankle injury of his own. Davis made 13 starts for the Bulldogs in 2008, though none at right guard (3 at C). Head coach Mark Richt believes that Davis "will be ready" for the Sept 5 game against Oklahoma State. |
| 08/27 | 7:05am | Bruce Figgins | TE | Out | Suspension | Junior TE Bruce Figgins will miss the first six games of the 2009 season to serve a suspension for violating team rules. Figgins started two games as a sophomore last year and recorded 32 receiving yards. |
| 08/25 | 6:52am | Washaun Ealey | RB | Out | Elbow | Highly touted true freshman RB Washaun Ealey has been out indefinitely since August 9 with an elbow injury. Ealey was expected to compete for playing time in UGA's "backfield by committee" scheme. |

Gonzalez did not play in the opener against Miami (Ohio). |

A speedy redshirt freshman, Edmonson had a good showing in fall camp and is constantly competing for playing time at the wide receiver position. Aaron Dobson, a true freshman, has been added to the travel roster in place of Edmonson. |
| 08/12 | 7:16pm | Josh Evans | OL | Out For Year | Transfer | Junior OL Josh Evans decided to transfer from Marshall citing personal issues as the main reason for leaving. Senior Landis Provancha is listed No. 2 on the depth chart although the Oregon transfer has no game action as a part of the Thundering Herd. |

|
| 08/12 | 7:25pm | Brandon Ross | RB | Out For Year | Personal | Sophomore RB Brandon Ross is no longer with the football team due to personal reasons. Ross was a key member of the Tiger backfield during the second half of 2008. He filled in admirably for backup tailback Charlie Jones and also for starter Curtis Steele when he suffered a hamstring injury. In 2009 spring scrimmages, Ross's carries were limited as Steele and Wisconsin transfer Lance Smith received the brunt of the workload. |
| 08/12 | 7:21pm | Demetrius Culpepper | DE | Out For Year | Personal | Projected starting DE Demetrius Culpepper is no longer with the team because of personal reasons. HC West declined to elaborate. Culpepper played mostly on special teams a year ago. Seniors Greg Terrell and Josh Weaver are the likely candidates to win the starting job this summer. |

The sophomore started four games for the Redhawks in 2008. Senior Daniel Raudabaugh and RS freshman Zac Dysert took most of the preseason camp snaps with the first unit. |
| 08/13 | 5:32pm | Ben Bennett | S | Out For Year | Suspension | Miami University HC Michael Haywood announced that junior defensive back Ben Bennett has been suspended from the team. No other details were provided. Last season, Bennett played in 11 games totaling 30 tackles (22 solo and eight assists). He also had 2 1/2 tackles for loss and one interception returned for 78 yards. He ranked No.2 at free safety on the depth chart before the suspension. |
|
Next game: Navy at Pittsburgh on 09/19
|
| 08/28 | 7:21am | Kriss Proctor | QB | Out | Leg | #2 QB Proctor "planted awkwardly" on his leg during a preseason workout and will require surgery to repair a torn ligament. It is expected that the California native will miss at least four weeks of action. Mike Stukel, who was converted to slot back/kickoff returner during camp, is back on the depth chart at QB and expected to be the primary backup to Ricky Dobbs until Proctor can return. |
| 08/22 | 10:08pm | Nate Frazier | NG | Out For Year | Dismissed | Senior nose guard Nate Frazier has been dismissed and is no longer on the Navy football team. Commander Joe Carpenter confirmed that the nature of the issue that led to Frazier's dismissal from the team is administrative and is not criminal. Senior defensive end Jordan Stephens moved inside to nose guard this week at practice. Junior Chase Burge, Frazier's backup, will also get a look. |
|
Next game: Nevada at Colorado State on 09/19
|
| 08/13 | 12:42am | Amini Silatolu | OL | Out For Year | Academics | Incoming JUCO transfer Silatolu did not qualify academically and will not suit up for Nevada in 2009. |
Next game: Tulsa at Oklahoma on 09/19
|
| 09/12 | 9:18pm | DeMarcus Granger | DT | Out | Back | Granger is out indefinitely as he recovers from a back injury, According to HC Bob Stoops, Granger is "...a ways away" from making an impact on the football field. After being a starter in 2007, Granger competed in a reserve role last year while dealing with lingering foot and back injuries, the latter leading to surgery. He was expected to back up at the DT spot again this season. |
| 09/12 | 9:18pm | Mike Balogun | LB | Out | Eligibility | Balogun is out indefinitely. The senior is not injured and can return as soon as allowed, however Oklahoma is unsure when that might be. Consider the linebacker questionable for Saturday Sept. 12 against Idaho State. Balogun had hoped to be eligible for all games this year, but the process of proving that he did not play semi-pro football after his 21st birthday is dragging on longer than expected. HC Bob Stoops is not involved in the proceedings and calmly stated recently that "there's a whole bunch of guys that could play in there." In six starts last year, Ryan Reynolds had 44 tackles before going down with a season-ending injury. He is likely the starter at MLB, though after Tom Wort recently went down for the season, Balogun's eligibility became more of an issue for the Sooners, suddenly lacking veteran leadership at the linebacker position. |
| 09/09 | 7:58am | Jermaine Gresham | TE | Out For Year | Knee | Gresham did not play on opening night against BYU because of a knee injury and will not play again this season. The star TE has cartilage damage in his knee and needed stitches to repair it. Gresham will be replaced by the combination of Trent Ratterree and James Hanna. The 2008 first team All-American had 66 receptions for 950 yards and 14 touchdowns and is widely regarded as the best TE in the nation. |
| 09/08 | 7:19am | Sam Bradford | QB | Out | Shoulder | Heisman Trophy winner Bradford suffered a grade 3 sprain in the AC joint in his right shoulder against BYU on opening night. Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops has said his star QB is out 2-4 weeks. The senior signal caller was replaced by Landry Jones to start the second half against BYU and Landry will continue to run the Sooners' offense. |
| 08/22 | 12:29pm | Tom Wort | LB | Out For Year | Knee | Heralded freshman Tom Wort will miss the 2009 season with a torn ACL, providing another hit to the Sooners' depth at MLB. He was expected to immediately join the Sooners' playing rotation and contribute on special teams. Starting MLB Ryan Reynolds has been sidelined for some practices with a slight hamstring injury. |
| 08/10 | 3:40pm | Alex Williams | OG | Out For Year | Transfer | Sophomore Alex Williams has decided to transfer. Williams said he and OU coach Bob Stoops had a conversation regarding his status with the team. After that conversation, both parties decided Williams would be better off at another school. Williams played in six games as a backup in 2008 during his redshirt freshman season and was listed as a backup on the 2009 depth chart. |

|
| 09/12 | 9:39am | DeWitt Stuckey | LB | Questionable | Knee | Sophomore DeWitt Stuckey has been sidelined with a knee problem and did not even travel for the season opener. He is questionable for week two vs. Purdue. Stuckey is expected to be a top reserve for the Ducks in 2009. Junior LB Spencer Paysinger says, "We have eight strong, fast linebackers that can come in and play different positions" so depth does not seem to be an issue. |
| 09/10 | 2:56pm | Rory Cavaille | WR | Out | Shoulder | Senior Rory Cavaille missed the BSU game due to a shoulder injury and HC Kelly has already ruled him 'out' for week 2. Cavaille is listed as a reserve receiver on the depth chart. |
| 09/09 | 10:28pm | Charlie Carmichael | OL | Doubtful | Foot | Sophomore lineman Charlie Carmichael had his left foot in a walking boot after suffering an injury in a scrimmage. No indication of the seriousness of the injury but he did not enter the season opening game vs. BSU and is doubtful for week two vs. Purdue. Carmichael appears as the backup at one of the guard positions on two different depth charts. |
| 09/09 | 10:27pm | T.J. Ward | S | Doubtful | Ankle | Ward suffered an ankle injury at Boise State and has been downgraded to doubtful for week two vs. Purdue. The senior could not put any weight on his ankle when he was helped off the field. RS freshman John Boyett stepped in for Ward and finished the game but it is possible the Ducks will shuffle their secondary if Ward cannot go. One of the rovers, Javes Lewis or Marvin Johnson, could shift over. |
| 09/04 | 7:53pm | Tyrece Gaines | WR | Questionable | Knee | Projected backup receiver Tyrece Gaines had arthroscopic knee surgery on his knee a few weeks ago and had been slowed early in fall camp. He returned to full speed at practice and was upgraded to probable for the season opener but did not enter the game. He is listed as a No. 2 receiver behind USC transfer Jamere Holland. |
| 09/04 | 7:39pm | LeGarrette Blount | RB | Out For Year | Suspension | Blount's collegiate career has come to an untimely end as he has been suspended for the remainder of the season after sucker-punching Boise State DE Bryon Hout following the Ducks' loss last night. Blount rushed for 1,002 yards and a school-record 17 touchdowns last season. RS freshman LaMichael James is listed as the No. 2 tailback on the depth chart. After Blount, junior Remene Alston ranks highest among returning running backs in carries last year. Alston should be in the mix now as well. |
| 08/10 | 6:16pm | Daniel Padilla | K | Out For Year | Transfer | Buried on the depth chart and passed by Morgan Flint last year, Daniel Padilla has decided to transfer. |
| 08/07 | 11:52pm | Braxton Lane | WR | Out For Year | Not Enrolling | Lane would have instantly become the Ducks fastest player on the field but has decided to play baseball, signing a contract with the Texas Rangers. He decided to focus on baseball his senior year in high school and has not played football in a year. |
| 08/07 | 11:48pm | Aaron Pflugrad | WR | Out For Year | Transfer | Aaron followed his father's footsteps off the Eugene campus and has decided to transfer to Arizona State. He was projected to be a No. 1 receiver for the Ducks but will now sit out 2009. Robin Pflugrad, Aaron's dad, was an assistant coach with Oregon from 2006 to 2008. |
| 08/07 | 11:40pm | Chris Harper | WR | Out For Year | Transfer | Harper has decided to transfer to a school closer to home (Kansas) citing homesickness as the main reason. He was Oregon's backup slot receiver coming out of spring drills and was also used situationally at running back and quarterback. He was also in the running to return kicks this fall. |
| 08/07 | 11:36pm | Justin Roper | QB | Out For Year | Transfer | Oregon granted Roper his release in late May and the QB says he will play at Montana this season. He started Oregon's first three games a year ago before suffering a knee injury that forced him to miss the next four games. Roper was not satisfied after spring drills when he emerged as starter Jeremiah Masoli's backup. |
|
Next game: Rice at Oklahoma State on 09/19
|
| 09/08 | 7:32am | Nick Fanuzzi | QB | Starter | Starter | Fanuzzi, the sophomore who appeared second at QB during Rice's first week game, has been named the starter over senior John Thomas Shepard heading into Saturday Sept. 12 against Texas Tech. Fanuzzi completed 12-of-20 passing attempts for 154 yards and a TD playing technically as a reserve in week one, even though he and Shepard were scheduled to split time. |
| 08/28 | 7:59am | Denzel Wells | WR | Out For Year | Shoulder | Wells required surgery to repair his injured left shoulder and will not play this year. After sitting out last season with a redshirt, Wells was expected to compete for playing time at the wide receiver position. |
