On the three-man line, Almondo Sewell is a sure starter and players such as Dan Marcoux, James Harvey, Deni Odofin and Hasan Hazime will get plenty of playing time. Bain, a transfer from Iowa who did not play last year, is a wild card in the mix if he can get healthy.

One report indicates that he was to share the bulk of the carries this year with senior Alex Allen, but with both not 100% going into the opener, RS freshman DeVoe Torrence may be a big part of the Zips offense.
08/30	10:47pm	Alex Allen	RB	Probable	Hip	Senior RB Alex Allen broke his hip last year and is still not fully recovered. He is listed as probable for the season opener although he may not be 100%. Allen is expected to share the bulk of the 2008 RB carries with sophomore Dale Martin.

Saban also says that true freshman Trent Richardson will see "a lot" of playing time, so expect to see Ingram received a limited number of carries against Florida International on Sept 12. Against Virginia Tech, Ingram led the Crimson Tide in rushing with 150 yards on 26 carries (5.8 ypc).

09/10	10:24pm	Brandon Deaderick	DE	Questionable	Personal	Senior DE Brandon Deaderick is questionable for the Sept 12 game against Florida International while tending to personal matters (death in the family). Deaderick has missed practice since Monday (Sept 7), but head coach Nick Saban insists that the starting DE's absence is excused. Saban says that he expects to see Deaderick back with the team on Sept 11. Despite getting shot in the forearm the week of the Virginia Tech game, Deaderick saw limited action on Sept 5 against the Hokies. If he does not play Sept 12, his likely replacement would be junior Luther Davis.
09/10	8:47am	Dre Kirkpatrick	CB	Probable	Pulled muscle	True freshman CB Dre Kirkpatrick did not play against Virginia Tech on Sept 5, but he is available for the Sept 12 against Florida International. The highly sought-after CB is expected to receive lots of playing time despite being in a crowded defensive backfield if healthy (No.2 LCB). According to head coach Nick Saban, Kirkpatrick has to "earn it [playing time]", as he is not currently listed in the top 5 or 6 DBs in the rotation.
09/10	7:57am	Star Jackson	QB	Probable	Flu	Redshirt freshman QB Star Jackson is recovering from the flu after being quarantined from his teammates (except roommate Mark Ingram, who also has the virus) for three days. His status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is probable.
09/06	11:29am	Jerrell Harris	LB	Doubtful	Eligibility	Sophomore SLB Jerrell Harris did not play Sept 5 game against Virginia Tech due to a pending NCAA decision on his eligibility. His status for the Sept 12 game against Florida International is unknown. Harris received a laptop from Auburn booster Curtis Anderson, the same man who paid for a fishing trip for fellow Alabama sophomores Mark Ingram and Julio Jones. Harris, a reserve SLB (No. 2 on the depth chart), played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2008.

His status for week two vs. Northern Arizona is doubtful. While he might see some action during practices this week, the most probable scenario is that he'll rest this weekend so he can be as healthy as possible for the Sept. 19 game at Iowa.

Brooks has been low on the preseason camp depth chart after coming out of spring practice on the first team. The main candidates to start at end opposite senior Dexter Davis are JUCO transfer Dean DeLeone and sophomore Jamaar Jarrett.

The fifth-year senior appeared to have injured his ankle at first but later was found to have suffered what could be a ligament tear. He was expected to be a backup split end this season behind Kerry Taylor and Gerell Robinson.

The first-string receiver started in 11 games in 2008 and was a starter in the opener. Crawford recorded two catches for 44 yards against Missouri State. It is not known how Crawford's injury will affect Arkansas, as the Razorbacks have one of the deepest receiving corps in the SEC. Thirteen different players caught passes during the Sept 5 season opener.

08/26	6:14am	Isaac Madison	CB	Out For Year	Torn ACL	Starting CB Isaac Madison is out for the season with a torn ACL (Aug 17). The junior starter at RCB was second on the team last season with 7 passes broken up and also recorded 38 tackles and 1 interception. Sophomore Greg Gatson immediately replaced Madison, but true freshmen Darius Winston (No. 2 RCB) and David Gordon (No. 3 LCB) are receiving what would be Madison's reps in practice.
08/22	1:14pm	Lucas Miller	WR	Out	Collarbone	Senior receiver Lucas Miller went down with a broken collar bone and will be out four to six weeks. His absence hits the Razorbacks' depth a little as he was to be part of the receiving rotation, although not a starter.
08/09	5:25pm	Khiry Battle	LB	Out For Year	Dismissed	Backup LB Battle has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested twice within the span of seven weeks. The sophomore's vacated No. 2 MLB job will most likely be filled by junior Jermaine Love who has nine tackles in two seasons.

The No. 4 RB on the depth chart made 1 start as a true freshman and amassed 83 total yards in 2008.

Freeman did not play Sept 5 against LA Tech and his status for the Sept 12 game against Mississippi State is unknown. ``It's been one of those situations where it's looked like he's close...but we don't want to have him go out there too early and he misses another three weeks or a month,'' Chizik said.
08/28	7:25am	Montez Billings	WR	Out	Academic	Senior WR Montez Billings will be suspended for the first four games of the season. As the leading returning receiver (24 receptions, 227 receiving yards in 2008), Billings was expected to start again this season and vie for the top receiver slot. "This is unfortunate for Montez, but we've exhausted all avenues to get him on the field as soon as possible," Auburn senior associate athletic director Rich McGlynn said in a statement. "While we don't necessarily agree with the NCAA's ruling, we have to respect and abide by their decision."
08/26	6:27am	Rudy Odom	G	Out For Year	Left team	Senior RG Rudy Odom left the team for the second time this year. The No. 2 RG on the depth chart played in two games last season while struggling through various injuries.
08/22	12:44pm	Tim Hawthorne	WR	Out	Foot	Junior receiver Tim Hawthorne is still recovering from a broken foot in July and is expected to miss at least the first four games of the season. The Tigers had high hopes for Hawthorne as he emerged as the No. 1 receiving threat in the spring. Junior Terrell Zachery, sophomore Darvin Adams and senior Montez Billings are currently the frontrunners to start.

Freshman Daren Bates has made a favorable impression in each of the team's first two scrimmages and it looks like HC Chizik has found the player who will step up in McNeil's absence.

The senior and team captain will petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility. After Thursday's loss, HC Parrish said Grant was the one player he couldn't afford to lose. Grant's replacement has not been determined. Sophomore Ryan Hartke, who had never played the position before, filled in Thursday night but was called for a holding penalty that nullified a Ball State touchdown. Freshman Zane Fakes, a converted running back, will compete with Hartke for the starting job.
08/13	2:07am	Derrick Henry	S	Out For Year	Academics	Junior Derrick Henry was expected to provide depth in the Cardinals' secondary but is not with the team because of what coach Stan Parrish termed "academic issues" encountered during the spring semester. Henry finished 2008 with 42 tackles, but he had only 12 in the final seven games. While unable to play regularly on defense, he was regarded as a key performer on special teams.

08/19	4:54pm	Greg Grimes	DT	Out	Leg	RS freshman DT Greg Grimes will be out four to six weeks with a leg injury and will miss the Sep. 3 season opener against Oregon. The position was thin to begin with for Boise State, and it got thinner before the start of fall camp when HC Petersen suspended talented defensive tackle Michael Atkinson following a DUI arrest. Boise State still has two excellent, explosive and aggressive defensive tackles - Chase Baker and Billy Winn - but no proven performers behind them.
08/17	1:06am	Michael Atkinson	DT	Out	Suspension	Freshman defensive tackle Michael Atkinson has been suspended for at least three games, HC Chris Petersen said. Atkinson was arrested in July on a DUI charge after a car accident. He also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Both charges are misdemeanors. He likely will be limited early in fall camp by an ankle injury (unrelated to the accident) as well. Sophomores Billy Winn and Chase Baker appear to be at the top of the depth chart.
08/17	1:02am	Andy Silsby	FB	Out For Year	Knee	Senior fullback Andy Silsby tore an ACL in a softball game and will be out for the year. He will help coach.
08/13	12:31am	Drew Hawkins	QB	Out For Year	Personal	Quarterback-turned-wide receiver Drew Hawkins has left the football program and quit the sport because of a history of concussions. Hawkins sustained his latest concussion in a recreational softball game. He was slated to move to receiver this fall after spending his redshirt year at quarterback. The loss of Hawkins means the Broncos only have two quarterbacks on the roster who have taken a snap in a college practice - sophomore starter Kellen Moore and junior backup Mike Coughlin. True freshmen Mike Tamburo and Joe Southwick will compete for the third-string job.

Senior DT Brendan Deska could see action at FB during McCluskey's absence.

Thompson is listed as the No. 1 WLB on the depth chart. In Thompson's absence, true freshman Luke Kuechly will see significant playing time.
09/11	11:18am	Kaleb Ramsey	DT	Probable	Ankle	Sophomore DT Kaleb Ramsey returned to full practice on Sept 9 after missing the Northeastern game (Sept 5). His status for the Sept 12 game against Kent State is probable. Ramsey is a projected starter at DT and was expected to ease the losses of B.J. Raji and Ron Brace to the NFL. In 2008, Ramsey played a reserve role as a true freshman and recorded six tackles.
09/11	11:16am	Rich Lapham	T	Probable	Multiple	Junior RT Rich Lapham did not play against Northeastern due to shoulder and neck ailments. His status for the Sept 12 game against Kent State is probable. Lapham is the No. 1 RT on the depth chart for the Eagles. In 2008, Lapham started all 14 games and helped pave the way for then freshman RB Montel Harris to break two Boston College freshman rushing records (total yards and number of 100-yard rushing games).
09/09	9:26am	Clarence Megwa	WR	Probable	Finger	Senior WR Clarence Megwa injured his finger during the Northeastern game on Sept 5, but the senior starter is expected to return to practice on Sept 9. Megwa is expected to play Sept 12 against Kent State.
09/05	7:33am	Ifeanyi Momah	WR	Out	Knee	Junior WR Ifeanyi Momah missed the Sept 5 game against Northeastern with a sprained right medial collateral ligament injury. The reserve receiver caught 11 passes in 2008 for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns (second on the team last season).
09/05	7:16am	Mike McLaughlin	LB	Out	Achilles	Senior LB Mike McLaughlin missed the Sept 5 game against Northeastern with an Achilles ailment. He will likely miss the Sept 12 game against Kent State. McLaughlin is expected to provide stability to a linebacker crew that lost its leader, Mark Herzlich, to cancer for the entire 2009 season. In 2008, McLaughlin started all 14 games for Boston College and was second on the team in tackles with 89 (53 solo) and four sacks.
08/10	5:33pm	Mark Herzlich	LB	Out For Year	Cancer	Herzlich has been diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in his left leg. The ACC Defensive Player of the year is two months into an aggressive chemotherapy plan and will not play in 2009. The cancer gives him a five-percent higher chance of breaking his leg. "If it breaks, the cancer spreads," he said.
08/10	5:23pm	Dominique Davis	QB	Out For Year	Academics	Projected starting quarterback Dominique Davis was declared academically ineligible and will transfer out of the BC program. The QB position in BC is a bit chaotic. There are six QB's on the roster, NONE of which have taken an in-game snap from under center in their careers. Billy Flutie has played college ball - at wide receiver, punter and holder - but he will only get a handful of chances for "change-of-pace" snaps. Codi Boek played in every game last year, including four starts - at FullBack. The other four candidates are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen.

Starks is a fifth-year senior and has no eligibility remaining. Starks is the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,140 yards and 34 rushing touchdowns. He has scored the most points (222) of any player in Buffalo's history and ranks fifth in all-purpose yardage with 3,830 yards. In his absence, junior Brandon Thermilus will start. Thermilus rushed 100 times for 454 yards and seven touchdowns as a backup last season.

BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said after Friday night's practice that the junior, who has undergone five major surgeries in his career, has a rotator cuff tear in his shoulder and will be out between three and five months. RS freshman Marco Thorson will take Speredon's place as the starter.

Simas' suspension is significant because the sophomore has developed into the Buffaloes' top deep threat at its thin receiving position. Colorado's wide receiving depth had taken a big hit over the summer with the transfer of speedy wide receiver/kick returner Josh Smith to UCLA.

But the Bruins were in the process of changing coaches, so Mobley chose Ohio State, a more stable program.

Sophomore Andrew Sweat and incoming freshmen Storm Klein and Dorian Bell could also be in the mix.

After being a starter in 2007, Granger competed in a reserve role last year while dealing with lingering foot and back injuries, the latter leading to surgery. He was expected to back up at the DT spot again this season.

Consider the linebacker questionable for Saturday Sept. 12 against Idaho State. Balogun had hoped to be eligible for all games this year, but the process of proving that he did not play semi-pro football after his 21st birthday is dragging on longer than expected. HC Bob Stoops is not involved in the proceedings and calmly stated recently that "there's a whole bunch of guys that could play in there." In six starts last year, Ryan Reynolds had 44 tackles before going down with a season-ending injury. He is likely the starter at MLB, though after Tom Wort recently went down for the season, Balogun's eligibility became more of an issue for the Sooners, suddenly lacking veteran leadership at the linebacker position.

The star TE has cartilage damage in his knee and needed stitches to repair it. Gresham will be replaced by the combination of Trent Ratterree and James Hanna. The 2008 first team All-American had 66 receptions for 950 yards and 14 touchdowns and is widely regarded as the best TE in the nation.

Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops has said his star QB is out 2-4 weeks. One of the rovers, Javes Lewis or Marvin Johnson, could shift over.

Blount rushed for 1,002 yards and a school-record 17 touchdowns last season. RS freshman LaMichael James is listed as the No. 2 tailback on the depth chart. After Blount, junior Remene Alston ranks highest among returning running backs in carries last year. Alston should be in the mix now as well.

He missed the season opener but may be able to return as early as Sept 12. Doctors realized what they thought was a fracture was actually an old, previous undetected injury that had healed. That means no surgery on the wrist that has tendon and ligament damage. Catchings has been groomed to be the go-to receiver this season. The split end is the first option in many passing plays at OSU. Senior Damola Adeniji started in week one vs. Portland State and caught three passes for 45 yards.

He will undergo surgery shortly and the expected rehab time is nine months. Mauti played as a true freshman last year and can redshirt in 2009. The loss of Mauti is huge. He was PSU's best young linebacker and was pushing for a starting spot. Mauti has the size (6-2, 230) to play inside or outside but was ideally suited to play outside. With Mauti out, PSU's starting linebacker trio is Sean Lee, Navorro Bowman and Josh Hull. Another young linebacker to watch is Nate Stupar.
